Synopsis
The first documentary study of Aleister Crowley’s contemporary followers in North America, told through the life of their de facto leader, Wilfred Talbot Smith (1885-1957). Smith (‘Frater 132′), the unacknowledged offspring of a prominent English family, emigrated to Canada where he encountered Charles Stansfeld Jones (‘Frater Achad’), and through him, the works of Aleister Crowley (‘Baphomet ‘and ‘Therion’). Although Crowley and Smith met only once, their twenty year correspondence proved to be a major link to the few and the faithful attracted to Crowley’s work in the USA and Canada. THE UNKNOWN GOD is a fascinating and complex human story, intimately interwoven with the lives of most of Crowley’s American disciples including C F Russell, Jane Wolfe, Max R Schneider, Jack Parsons, Louis T Culling, Frederic Mellinger and Grady L McMurtry as well as occult teachers like H Spencer Lewis (AMORC), Paul Foster Case (BOTA), and Wayne Walker (OM), Hollywood actors such as John Carradine and even the founder of the Mattachine Society, Harry Hay.

Yes, finally I got my hands on “The Voudon Gnostic Workbook” (Michael Bertiaux’s)

“…in opposition to all humanistic culture, we are lured ever to the brink of chaos. We want to go where we are forbidden. We want to know what has been denied to us. We seek, in a word, the ‘more.’ And so the magician seeking the limits and then the limits beyond all those limits will constantly move closer and closer to the brink…”

“And as the magician stands on the brink of the final mystery, encounter, or total experience, he will find there is nothingness before him. He will experience the fundamental fear of all being, which is the fear of the totally unknowable.”

This is a rare occult title which sells on Amazon and Abebooks for up to £300. The book is in reasonable condition, apart from the fact that someone has written/scribbled on the title page and the inside of the back cover. But I can live with that.

Yes, back from my diving trip to Hurghada (Egypt). We had a great time.
Did some nice dives, and spend most of the time relaxing on the boat.
And for now, back to work….
