Holy Week in Seville (Semana Santa en Sevilla) is one of the most important traditional events of the city. It is celebrated in the week leading up to Easter, one to two weeks before the city’s other great celebration, the Feria, and is amongst the largest religious events within Spain, internationally renowned for its drama. The week features the procession of pasos, floats of lifelike wooden sculptures of individual scenes of the events of the Passion, or images of the Virgin Mary showing restrained grief for the torture and killing of her son. Some of the sculptures are of great antiquity and are considered artistic masterpieces.

Hounen Matsuri

The Hounen festival at Tagata shrine is one of the most famous (or infamous?) festivals in Japan. Amongst foreigners visiting Aichi Prefecture it is frequently referred to as the “penis shrine”, or “Japanese penis festival”, primarily due to the ancient Hounen Matsuri (a festival celebrating fertility and renewal), which is held here every March 15th.

Every year on March 15 a huge two and a half meter wooden phallus is carried the short distance between two shrines attracting visitors from all over Japan and international media attention. The festival is fun with a lot of sake drinking, however the background of the festival is rather more serious. A shrine is a place of worship. It houses divine spirits and preserves the memory and practice of many aspects of Japanese culture.

Say fuck to China!!

Since the invasion and illegal annexation of Tibet (1949-1951) 1,250,000 Tibetans are murdered by the Chinese terrorists..An as for to day the killing still goes on. The question arises why the Olympics were awarded to China, why why ? And why, why are people still supporting this event ? Fuck you China, this is not acceptable we will boycott the Olympics. Also from their position, the athletes should call attention to human rights abuses and say; No we wont go there and say fuck to china!

The Olympics and Crimes Against Humanity Cannot Coexist in China.

by Lon Milo DuQuete. Two millennia ago, a charismatic Jewish teacher emerged from the sands of Roman Palestine. His wise, sometimes enigmatic teachings, his ability to heal the sick, and the miraculous feats he performed before the eyes of his many followers brought him fame, admiration and adoration, as well as resentment and ultimately, death. Yet, in the score of centuries that passed, his life’s story has been told and re-told more than that of any man who has ever lived. Who was this Jesus? Was he the King of the Jews? The Son of God? A prophet? A politician? A religious teacher? Was he an individual caught up in a drama much greater than himself, perhaps divinely inspired to fulfill an age-old prophecy? In his first novel, bestselling author Lon Milo DuQuette tells a remarkable tale of what might have been… Through the magic of his narrative, DuQuette brings to life the historical and cultural milieu from which Jesus, John the Baptist, and the woman known in the Gospels as Mary Magdalene arose. The streets and temples and homes of ancient Galilee appear vividly before us, as do the priests, soldiers, merchants, wandering prophets, and Gnostic initiates of the time. (Amazon)

Szene 222:

Polis Massa-Beobachtungskuppel – Nacht
QUI-GON: (Stimme) Ihr werdet lernen, alles loszulassen. Keine Bindungen, kein Gedanke an euch selbst. Kein körperliches Selbst.
YODA: Ein großer Jedi-Meister seid Ihr geworden, Qui-Gon Jinn. Euer Schüler, ich dankbar werde.
Yoda denkt einen Moment darüber nach, dann betritt Bail Organa den Raum und stört Yodas Meditation.
BAIL ORGANA: Entschuldigt, Meister Yoda. Obi-Wan Kenobi hat Kontakt zu uns aufgenommen.

Peeling potatoes

Zen does not confuse spirituality with thinking about God while one is peeling potatoes. Zen spirituality is just to peel the potatoes.
